2021 Fresh Air Fairs and Festivals

Our vibrant small town come alive with community celebrations each year, from fairs and festivals to concerts, parades and more. With dozens of events throughout the summer months, there’s always something happening on your Fresh Air Adventure! We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite annual and seasonal events, but check out our events calendar for the most up-to-date listings during your visit!

Fairs

Classic family fun for everyone! Our small-town fairs are a blast from summers past with animals, rides, and snacks to keep everyone happy.

Allegany County Fair

June 19 – 24th

For 176 years, the Allegany County Fair has brought neighbors and visitors together to enjoy a week of sweet treats, wild rides and country fun. From tractor and truck pulls to animal shows and demolition derbies, there’s always something exciting to see. Enjoy a ride on the Ferris wheel, test your accuracy at the games, and don’t forget to grab a salty or sweet snack while you’re there! Admission is just $10 per person and includes the grandstand events, all demonstrations, and commercial and animal exhibits.


Hemlock Little World's Fair

July 20-24

The Hemlock Little World’s Fair delivers big on family fun. Take a ride in a monster truck, enjoy nightly live music, and step back in time at the Heritage Museum, to see the fair as it was in the 1800s. Enjoy a monster truck rally, super farm tractor pulling and more. From the Sherriff Showdown and animal shows to the woodcarving demonstrations and the talent show, everyone in the family will find something to love.


Genesee County Fair

July 24 – 31

Returning for the 181st year, the Genesee County Fair is one of the longest consecutively running county fairs in the state. A lot has changed since that first year, but some things still look like same; like the excitement of a fast ride and the first delicious bite into cotton candy. The fair is quintessential affordable family fun, with admission just $10 per car load. Over 8 days, attendees can enjoy daily 4H shows with over 1,200 animals, nightly live music, and a large midway full of rides made to thrill! With draft horse shows, pig races, stock car racing and demolition derbies, this is sure to be the fair of the summer! 

Also be sure not to miss the North American 6-Horse Hitch Classic Series on July 23rd


Orleans County 4H Fair

July 26 – 31

Bring your competitive spirit to the Orleans County 4H Fair! Contests abound to test the will, appetite and even stomach strength of the contestants. A classic pie eating contest meets the new ice cream eating contest, which is held far away from the Smelliest Shoe contest! See who will be named the Small Fry Tractor Pull champion, who dominates at the Great Round Bale Rolling contest and who takes home the $1,000 karaoke prize! Attendees will also enjoy livestock shows, comedy, magic acts, fireworks and more. Parking is free and admission is just $3 per person.


Wyoming County Fair

August 14 – 21

Held annually at the Pike Fairgrounds, the Wyoming County Fair highlights the best of country fun. With horse shows, parades, car shows, tractor pulls and more, there’s always something happening on the Fairgrounds. Grab a bag of hot popcorn or salty fries before the talent show, or stick around for the chicken BBQ and fish dinners. Admission is free and parking is $10 per car.

Ring of Fire on Conesus Lake

July 3

A pre-4th of July tradition not to be missed! The ritual of the ring of fire began in time of the Seneca Indians and continues with a few changes to this day. Every year as the sun sets, the residents of Conesus Lake light flares along the water’s edge, creating an enchanting ring of fire that circles the lake. After dark, the town of Livonia hosts an incredible fireworks show at the north end of the lake. Visitors can enjoy the best views from Vitale Park or Long Point Park.


Lyndonville’s 4th of July Celebration

July 4

Bursting fireworks, small town vendors, and blankets spread on the grass- this is what it means to celebrate the 4th of July the American way! One of the largest 4th of July events in Western NY includes live music, an Arts and Crafts show featuring local vendors, a delicious Chicken BBQ, and a spectacular fireworks show.


Geneseo Rotary Summer Festival

July 9 - 10
For nearly 40 years, the Genesee Rotary Summer Festival has rung in summer in Geneseo. Enjoy a weekend of classic summer fun, with live music, local craft vendors, delicious food, and even a petting zoo! The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra performs to fireworks on Friday while sidewalk sales unearth hidden treasures all weekend long. Come for one night or both, and see what small town summer celebrations are all about!


National Warplane Museum Air Show

July 10 - 11

The greatest show on turf returns! The annual National Warplane Museum Air Show is a sight spectacular, not to be missed! Watch as meticulously restored warplanes from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam take to the sky for a show of dizzying proportions, while commemorating those who gave their lives in battle for this country. Synchronized planes and performers soar, loop, and dive in a show the whole family will love. Advanced tickets are required and start at $100 per car load.


Livingston County Bicentennial Classic Car Cruise and Show

August 15

A classic car lover’s paradise comes to Geneseo! Watch dozens of antique and restored cars cruise by in all their glory to celebrate the Bicentennial of Livingston County. Attendance is free, with the car cruise in the morning and a car show in the afternoon. Refreshments are available for purchase, local businesses will be open for shopping, and door prizes are available for a lucky few! 


Angelica Civil War Reenactment

September 24 – 26

A flash back in history! For one weekend only, reenactors from across the state come together to set camp on Main Street and bring you back to the height of the Civil War. Watch blue battle grey, neighbor against neighbor, complete with skirmish reenactments, a mock battle, and cannons and muskets. Living historians take you back to life in the 1860s, with accurate tent set ups, period merchants, and more. This event is free to attend and a great way to immerse yourself in a critical moment in our nation’s history. 

Live Music All Summer long in Genesee County

No summer celebration is complete without live music!

Darien Lake Amphitheater

The premier music destination in Western New York, the Darien Lake Amphitheater boasts the biggest and the best artist lineup of the summer, every summer! From Luke Bryan and Dead & Co to the Backstreet Boys and everything in between, all of your favorite artists will be here this summer- will you? Extend the day with a trip to Six Flags Darien Lake Theme Park, or stay the night at the campgrounds! Advanced tickets are required for attendance.

Rockin’ the Downs Summer Concert Series

Fridays, June – August

Enjoy live music at the Downs all summer long! Every Friday night a new act comes to Batavia Downs, where the fun never stops. From local groups to famous duos and tributary bands, the songs you know and love meet your new favorite ear worms as you dance the night away. Make it an overnight at Batavia Downs and enjoy $10 in gaming free play! Advanced tickets are required for attendance.

Jackson Square Concert Series

Fridays, June – August

Picture the sun setting in the west as you relax in your chair with your toes in the grass and the sounds of live music floating past- that’s the Jackson Square Concert Series! Fridays in June – August, enjoy a new act each week with local bands playing all of your favorites. Bring a chair or roll out the picnic blanket; get up and groove or kick back and listen- there’s no wrong way to enjoy. Best of all, this event is free and no tickets are required!

Jam at the Ridge

Friday/ Saturday, June – September
For over 60 years, the Ridge has been the place to go for family fun and the best natural acoustics. The main hill acts as an amphitheater, producing incredible sounds in the open space. With a range of artists from favorites of the 80s to up-and-coming acts, the lineup for Jam at the Ridge 2021 has something for everyone. Spend the weekend at a campsite and amble over for your concert, or listen from your tent! Advanced tickets are required.
