There’s so Much to See & Do

Buckle up, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover! There is so much to do in our region and fun for the whole family to be found. And, since we’re all about fresh air, our activities are centered on what you can do outside year-round and in every season - from golfing and driving ranges, to lakes and parks and wildlife, to culture and art activities of all kinds.

Let Loose in the Great Outdoors

With fresh air in mind - what better place to find it than in the great outdoors? Let loose at Letchworth State Park, rated the #1 State Park in the Country by readers of USA TODAY and referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the East.” Letchworth State Park is a place to disconnect from technology, reconnect with nature, and let your worries go. The Genesee River roars through a breathtaking 600-foot-deep gorge creating waterways and waterfalls set next to 66-miles of hiking, biking, cross-country ski and horse trails, as well as a myriad of stunning overlooks.

In the summer season, go kayaking, whitewater rafting, or if you’re feeling really adventurous, take a hot air balloon ride (weather permitting). The winter season brings a different set of fresh air activities, with snow tubing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling through the park. Year-round, hiking and interactive programming is available in the park – making it one of the most diverse places to find outdoor fun in New York State!

There are so many outdoor adventures to be had– keep exploring!

Go Wild with Our Animals & Wildlife

From the domesticated and local wildlife to the truly exotic – animals of every kind reside in this region. Visit a farm and interact with an alpaca, pet their soft fleece and hear their signature “hum.” Take home a treasured item made from their soft wool, such as hand-woven alpaca socks, gloves, or other clothing items.

Swing by the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge – the largest wildlife refuge in the state – for well-maintained trails and off-the-beaten-path animal interactions. The refuge sits on the migratory path for many birds, but is also home to bald eagles, muskrats, beavers, fox, river otters, whitetail deer and other animals native to Upstate New York.

Go truly wild – even exotic – at Hidden Valley Animal Adventure. Over 35 different species live in the safari park, including addax, ostrich, zebras, water buffalo, camels, kangaroo and Texas Longhorn. Feed the animals from the safety of your Safari Tour or get up close at the Small Animal Adventure where you can interact with cows, goats, donkeys, bunnies and more. Stay for the day and dine at the Trailside Grill or visit in the snowy season for special sleigh rides through the park.
