The changing of the leaves is a time of celebration in Western NY, when communities come together for one last festival (okay, maybe a few) before the winter arrives. Time your Fresh Air Adventure to coincide with fall foliage and you’ll get more than you bargained for, with vibrant community celebrations set against the stunning change of season.

Pully's Farm Market 

Location: LeRoy, NY  

Hours: Monday – Saturday, 9 am – 6 pm, Closed Sunday

Pully’s Farm Market offers the best in seasonal fall fun! Stop by on the weekends throughout the September and October to enjoy an abundance of agricultural activities; from corn mazes and pumpkin cannons to petting zoos, pumpkin painting and kid’s activities! Don’t forget to stop by their farm market for the freshest fall produce, seasonal décor, and of course, apple cider and donuts.  

Ghost Hunts at Rolling Hills Asylum  

Location: East Bethany, NY  

Hours: Open Year-round for paranormal tours & special events  

Fall brings the return of spooky season, and there’s no better time for a visit to Rolling Hills Asylum. Built in 1827, the Asylum spent over 100 years housing the poor and sick of Genesee County, and is a favorite stop today for ghost hunters and thrill seekers. Featured on the Travel Channel and the SyFy Channel, Rolling Hills Asylum offers ghost hunts and overnight explorations throughout the year, but things take a turn for the spooky each Fall. Are you brave enough to make it through a ghost hunt?

Livingston County Farm Fest  

September 10, 2022

Location: Mt. Morris, NY 

The Livingston County Farm Fest is the best way to enjoy the beauty of fall in the Finger Lakes! The Farm Fest is hosted at Merrimac Farms, a 4th generation family farm first established in 1946. Get to know a day in the life of local farmers and explore where your food comes from as you enjoy the food and drink vendors. Kids will love the petting zoo and wagon rides, while the changing fall leaves over the rolling hills are a sight for everyone to enjoy.  

Cuba Garlic Festival  

September 17 – 18, 2022

Location: Cuba, NY 

Garlic lovers rejoice, the Cuba Garlic Festival is back! Explore the grounds of the historic Cuba Block Barn as you breathe in the pleasantly pungent aroma of the guest of honor- garlic! Enjoy an array of garlic foods and products from over 80 local vendors, as well as live music, cooking demonstrations, and a celebration of the most flavorful and versatile veggie! 

 

 

 

 

Appleumpkin Craft Festival  

September 24 – 25, 2022

Location: Wyoming, NY  

There’s nothing that says fall more than apples, pumpkins, and the Appleumpkin Craft Festival! Since 1986, residents and visitors alike have enjoyed browsing through the Village of Wyoming with over 100 artisan vendors to shop from, including handmade art, crafts, home décor, and household goods. Spend the weekend in the village enjoying the live entertainment, classic fair foods, and abundance of artisans.

Kendall Community Scarecrow Festival 

October 1, 2022

Location: Kendall, NY  

Head out to the country for the greatest small-town festival in Kendall! The annual Scarecrow Festival is a celebration of community, abundance, and togetherness. Attendees can enjoy the scarecrow contest, hay rides, chainsaw carvings, pumpkin decorating contest and even a build-your-own-scarecrow station! Perfect for all ages, kids love the live music, face painting, and truck design stations while the bake sale, farm market, and art vendors can be enjoyed by everyone.  

The Hunt Races  

October 8, 2022 

Location: Geneseo, NY 

For over 120 years, residents and visitors alike have gathered in Genesee for the Hunt Races, a day of country fun. Watch some of the finest steeplechase trainers on the East Coast race their horses, and stick around for the wiener dog races too! Best described as county fair meets horse racing, attendees love the abundance of races, pony rides, kid’s activities and New York Food and Wine Farmers Market. There’s something for everyone at the Hunt Races!

 

 

 

Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show and Sale  

October 8 – 10, 2022

Location: Perry, NY  

Voted one of the best Classic and Contemporary Craft Shows in North America, the Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show is an annual family favorite that you won’t want to miss. The show hosts over 300 local artisans and makers, each showcasing their unique craft. Enjoy 3 days of live entertainment, kid’s activities, food vendors, and more. Hosted in a new location at Perry Park this year, the show has retained the same creative spirit from year’s past.  

 

 

 

Allegany Artisans  

October 14 – 16, 2022

Location: Allegany County  

For 30 years, artists across Allegany County have been coming together for one weekend to open their studios to the public and offer a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process. Enjoy a scenic drive through the changing colors of the Genesee Valley as you explore artisan studios and homes. Watch demonstrations, browse exhibits, and enjoy refreshments. The artists have diverse styles and traditions, working with clay, wood, metal, glass, fiber, paint, paper, jewelry and more.  

RidgeWalk & Run  

October 16, 2022

Location: Wellsville, NY  

The 29th annual RidgeWalk & Run is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the beauty of fall in the Western NY Wilds. The crisp air and kaleidoscope of changing colors set the perfect scene for a walk in the woods. Get involved in a trail walk or run, with lengths ranging from a 2 mile walk to a 25k trail run. Weaving together nature, fitness, and fun, the RidgeWalk and Run raises money to invest back into the community to promote health and wellness.
