The World Aerobatic Championships, the premier international competition in sport aerobatics, will take place in Batavia in late summer 2026, bringing elite pilots from around the globe to compete in one of aviation’s most challenging and precise disciplines.
Held at and around the Genesee County Airport, the event will feature unlimited-level aerobatic pilots performing a series of complex aerial routines designed to test technical skill, control, and precision. Competitors will execute demanding flight sequences within a designated aerobatic “box” north of the airport, where judges carefully evaluate each maneuver for accuracy, positioning, and execution.
The championships are expected to bring hundreds of pilots along with crews, families, and support teams from around the world, making Batavia an international hub for competitive aviation during the event. Practice flights may also take place at nearby regional airports in Bethany, Geneseo, Le Roy, and Perry–Warsaw, as pilots prepare for the competition.
Unlike traditional airshows, the World Aerobatic Championships focus on competition rather than spectator performances, meaning there will not be a formal ticketed show. However, aviation enthusiasts may still catch glimpses of the incredible aerial maneuvers from public viewing areas around the region as competitors practice and perform their routines.
The event will take place just days before the popular Wings Over Batavia Air Show, which returns to the Genesee County Airport the following weekend, creating an exciting stretch of aviation activity in Genesee County.
With participants traveling from across the world, the World Aerobatic Championships will showcase Batavia’s airport facilities while bringing international attention to the region and its growing reputation as a destination for aviation events.
