An Alpaca Farm tour is educational and fun!

We invite you to visit our scenic alpaca farm to experience first hand the alpaca farming lifestyle, whether it is to simply meet our alpacas and shop our fibers and fashions Farm Boutique, or to explore the alpaca farming business, and the rewards of alpaca ownership and investment.

Northwoods Alpacas has been raising, breeding, boarding, training, shearing and working with alpacas and their fiber for over 14 years. We send our fiber to a national fiber co-operative in New England.  At the co-op the fiber is sorted, processed and graded by a dedicated staff of textile experts who maintain rigid quality control standards. As co-op members, Northwoods Alpacas is able to select the highest quality end products to be sold at our Farm Boutique and our Field to Fashions online store.

We also purchase from US companies that produce alpaca clothing in Peru, native home of the alpaca. We work exclusively with companies who maintain the highest ethical workplace standards, providing Peruvian people gainful employment and a higher standard of life.

Our sweaters, socks, hats, gloves, and yarns are made from soft and luxurious alpaca fleece. Alpaca fiber is similar to sheep wool, but lighter in weight, stronger, silkier to the touch, not prickly, and warmer with no lanolin. It is this lack of lanolin that makes the clothing hypoallergenic. Alpaca fiber is also sustainably produced and harvested, making alpaca a natural choice for today's eco-conscious consumer.

 About the Tour:

It lasts about an hour with a short walk around our family farm to meet the boys, the girls, and the little ones. You will also have the opportunity to pet and feed the alpacas. Bring your cameras!
