Derrick Maxfield will be visiting the museum to talk about "Hellmira". The Elmira, NY fort that would come to be known as “Hellmira” among its prisoners began as a Union training post called Camp Rathbun. The fort was turned into a prison camp in 1864 with almost no notice. That was just the beginning...
