Orleans County Historical Association Monthly History Presentations
When
The Orleans County Historical Association (OCHA) will host a series of monthly history presentations from May through October, many of which will center on the Orleans County bicentennial theme.
The schedule of talks goes as follows:
May 28: "The First Norwegian Settlement in the US: (1825) Kendall, NY" with Dee Robinson, retired Gaines historian
June 25: "The Life of Joseph Ellicott, Surveyor of the Wilderness" with Dennis Upton. storyteller and reenactor
July 30: "The Haudenosaunee Confederacy" with Kae Woodruff Wilbert
August 27: "Orleans County Fruit Culture as Living History" with Amy Machamer, owner of Hurd Orchards
September 24: "The Erie Canal & the Burned Over District; History is Not Accidental" with Doug Miller
October 29: "NYS Historic Markers" with Catherine Cooper, Orleans County historian
