Fall Food: Your Guide To Fall Flavors

A tell-tale sign of the return of fall is the changing of flavors on menus across the state. When the flavors of fall arrive, the crisp air and changing of the leaves are right around the corner. We’re rounded up a few of our favorite places to enjoy the limited-edition flavors of fall across your Fresh Air Adventure, from pumpkin and spiced to apples and more.

Swain Beer Fest

Where: Swain, NY

When: October 16, 2021

The Swain Beer Fest returns to Swain Mountain Resort on October 16! Enjoy a day of fun with live music, local brewery tastings, food, and unique shopping experiences, all at the base of one of Western NY’s favorite ski resorts where the changing leaves tower above your head.


Apple Cider

Castile Cider Mill

Where: Castile, NY

When: 10 am – 5 pm, daily, September – November

Apple cider is a classic fall drink, and there’s no better place to get it than fresh from the press at Castile Cider Mill! Serving up cider since 1945, the Mill also offers old fashioned apple fry cakes, donuts, cider slushies, hot mulled cider and local produce. Don’t forget a bushel of freshly picked apples!

Buried Barrel Hard Cider

Where: Castile, NY

When: Saturday – Sunday, noon – 4 pm

Just up the road from Letchworth State Park, Buried Barrel Hard Cider is bringing back the classic way of making hard apple ciders. Made exclusively from local apples from Pankow Farms, Buried Barrel celebrates the history of cider making in the region while crafting delicious ciders for the modern palate. There’s no better time to stop in for a glass or a 6 pack than during harvest season!


Coffee Shops & Cafes

The Coffee Press- Eatery & Wine Bar

Where: Batavia, NY

When: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 8 pm, Saturday, 7:30 am – 6pm, Closed Sundays

The Coffee Press Eatery and Wine Bar is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Genesee County serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Stop in for a seasonal panini, specialty fall coffee, or an apple cider mimosa, with fresh, local apple cider! Eden Bakeshop & Café

Where: Batavia, NY

When: Monday - Thursday, 11 am- 8 pm, Friday – Saturday, 11 am – 9 pm, Sunday, 12 pm – 6 pm

Eden Bakeshop is a local secret that offers a vegan twist on your fall favorites! Located inside Eli Fish Brewing Company in downtown Batavia, Eden is known for their delicious baked goods that are so tasty you wouldn’t know they were vegan. Try a seasonal salad, a pumpkin spice espresso, or fall donut!


Farm Fresh Food

Partyka Farms

Where: Kendall, NY  

When: 9 am – 6 pm, daily, April – October  

This working farm is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the best of fall. Enjoy a glass of freshly pressed and locally sourced apple cider, munch on heart healthy and delicious pumpkin seeds, and grab a bushel or a peck of fresh apples. In October, the farm offers hayrides to the pumpkin patch so you can pick your perfect gourd to carve and roast the seeds!  

LynOaken Farms

Where: Medina, NY

When: 9 am – 6 pm, daily, U-Pick Season

LynOaken has been growing apples in Medina for over 100 years! Stop by this historic working farm and shop their robust selection of classic and heritage apple varieties. Head out into the orchards to fill your basket with U-pick apples or have them shipped anywhere in the country to be enjoyed. All of their apples are unwaxed and hand-packed to ensure freshness. Their apple cider is made from exclusively from apples harvested on the farm and flash pasteurized to create the most delicious fall treat.


Roberts Farm Market

Where: Medina, NY

When: Monday – Saturday, 9 am – 6 pm, Sunday 10 am – 4 pm, September & October

Roberts Farm Market is a 3rd generation family farm with deep roots. Head out into the orchard for u-pick apples or stop by their market to browse an incredible selection of fresh, local produce. Don’t forget to grab a gallon of cider, pressed on their 30-year-old cider press! You can buy the cider fresh or bring in your own apples to have pressed.
