by Doug Sitler

For motorcycle enthusiasts, the roadways in Western New York are pure bliss. So many different directions and places to travel. Many popular bike routes in the region are wide open adventures - relaxing cruises through rural farmland, quaint villages and even some natural wonders.

With the autumn colors about to return, here are 13 places that motorcyclists will want to visit this fall in Western New York.

Wyoming County

A spectacular ride awaits at Letchworth State Park. In the autumn months, the scenic 17-mile road through the park is nothing short of breathtaking. Stop at the overlooks along the way for expansive views of the 550 foot deep gorge. There are opportunities for up-close views of the park’s three major waterfalls. Lunch at the Glen Iris Inn overlooking the middle waterfalls is an unforgettable experience.

Craft brew lovers enjoy visiting Windy Brew in Strykersville for homemade beers, a beautiful tasting room and occasional live music. Visitors can even schedule time to work with the staff and brew their own beer. An added bonus - Windy Brew’s small pizzas are unique and yummy.

Situated in the rolling hills of Wyoming County, is the Byrncliff Bar & Restaurant at the Byrncliff Golf Resort. Indian Falls Log Cabin Restaurant is a major stop for motorcyclists. As its name implies, it’s a rustic cabin restaurant and pub that overlooks a beautiful 20 foot waterfall right off Rt. 77 in Pembroke/Indian Falls. One glance at their parking lot, signifies that this is a biking destination. One of the favorite items on the menu is a Western New York delicacy – Beef on Weck (roast beef on a salted roll, often with horseradish, yum!).

Situated on Rt. 5 in the middle of LeRoy, Smokin’ Eagle BBQ & Brew is a biking, brew and barbeque haven. Set inside a 200 year old landmark building, the Smokin’ Eagle menu features over 70 slow-cooked items. Smoked wings seem to be many diners favorite. One patron reviewer said about Smokin’ Eagle, that it’s “a religious experience in the middle of farming country.” With an endorsement like that, this friendly place is a “must visit.”

When in the neighborhood, many cyclists enjoy a visit to Stan’s Harley-Davidson in Batavia. Stan’s places become a gathering point for motorcyclists who enjoy one of America’s most beloved brands.
